Dearest Pink Foot
Like the old, old fairy in a story
I have formulated my wishes for you.
Little pink foot, little one,
My deepest wish for you.
Is that you will one day play on beaches
Where the oil has not yet been.
That you will see gulls and penguins,
Fly and dive and waddle.
That you may never cower in bomb shelters,
Never see one of God's creatures
Covered by a blanket,
Lying on the sidewalk.
May you stay a child, until
The time to grow up
One day really comes.
That Daddy and Mommy will love,
Tease and laugh together,
And never, ever talk about divorce
And that they will love you always.
That they will teach you about David
And Goliath, and about Samuel in the Temple,
Of Jesus the pink foot child,
And Jesus the King of the world.
I hope that you will know
The inside of God's house
That you will build your nest there,
Like the swallow, nest at His feet
Little pink foot, may you love life
Tread lightly like the deer,
Throw of all that holds you back,
And take with you, the laughter, the faith,
The ability to love and an unbeatable spirit.
But above all I wish you Jesus.
His light, His peace, His love,
That will carry you and sustain you,
And reward you, when He returns.
Sunchild
