Flutterby
Life's ebb and flow like ripples on a stream
Moving gently yet forcefully pulling me closer to my dream
Yet I fight to set myself free, to let my spirit go
I look everywhere but inside to find the answers I already know
I am not alone yet I feel I stand apart from the masses
I am not like the others; I don't wear rose colored glasses
A new door has opened I am free to walk through it
So what is stopping you now, why do you just sit?
My demons are looming over me, lurking in the dark
All of them have left a scar or some sort of negative mark
So just close your eyes and take the leap
It can only be positive things that you will reap
Total trust of myself is the issue at hand
Just take that step, goodness and light is where you will land
With all this in mind and the knowing I have gained
I walk through the door no longer ashamed
Never looking back, no more need for the pain
I feel like the sky after a cleansing rain
Although the step seemed easy to take
It was the hardest of all decisions I have ever had to make
I've Learned
that you cannot make someone love you.
All you can do is be someone who can be
loved. The rest is up to them.
I've learned
that no matter how much I care,
some people just don't care back.
I've learned
that it takes years to build up trust,
and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned
that it's not what you have in your life
but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned
that you can get by on charm for about
fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better
know something.
I've learned
that you shouldn't compare yourself to
the best others can do.
